Kitchen Clutter Be Gone

1. Keep it wrapped up tight with paper organizers!

In a mobile home, one of the key places for storage are your built-in cupboards. One way to save space is to use magazine holders or paper organizers.

A paper organizer is perfect for the various types of rolls you use in the kitchen (saran wrap, tin foil, etc.). You can also use this nifty storage hack for tupperware lids, grocery sacks, and cutting boards!

2.Can it! Canned Food Storage Ideas

Have you ever opened a packed cabinet only to have a loose can fall out? If you have, you know that sometimes your foot becomes the landing pad. Ouch!

Try storing those cans in an old 12 pack case. Revolutionary. I know. Seriously, though, save one of those cases and put your canned vegetables, soups, or even seasoning inside. No need for crushed feet or an emergency grocery run for a lost or damaged item. Keep cool, keep organized.

If you do not like the look of a Coke box dispensing your Campbell’s soup, get creative. You might use some patterned wrapping paper to dress it up. Cut up old paper grocery sacks and cover the box up, then let your kids do some of their fancy artwork on it!

3. Hung-over shelving idea

Let’s face it, most of use a lot of cans; pop cans, canned vegetables, cans of sauce, etc. This is another nifty can holder for a cupboard or closet.

First, go to your nearest hardware store, or your favorite house supply website, and purchase ventilated wire wall shelves. Simply install them upside-down and on a slant towards the ground. The lip of the shelf will now work as a stopper for cans and keep them from rolling off the shelf!

Keep your cans ordered, cupboards empty, and toes safe!

4. Put a lid on it… literally

For this little tidy-up cheat, simply install two Command hooks* for each lid you want to hang on the inside of your cabinet door. Utilizing the door for those often awkward-to-store lids will save a lot of space.

Feel free to be creative with where you hang them. Above your stove, closet door, or in the bathroom if you want (although that would be a little weird).

You can also use Command hooks to hang your pans on the cupboard walls. No more loud banging and clanging every time you want to use a pot or pan to make your meal.

*Make sure to weigh your lids, so that you can buy the command hooks with the strength and size needed.

5. Shelve it Concepts

The picture above shows a door with shelves built in. But don’t feel like you need to buy new doors! Just improve the door you have. As the wise saying goes, no need to reinvent the wheel…door.

Simply buy a few old-fashioned decorative wood shelves, and then install them on the inside of your cupboard door. You can attach the shelving units by screwing them in if the door is thick enough or by attaching them with Command strips.

This organization idea is great for storing sugar, baking powder, and other jarred or bagged ingredients you use for meal prep. If it is for the cupboard under your sink, these shelves would also work to store cleaning supplies: sprays, wipes, sponges, detergents, etc.

6. Stacking em’ 

Still thinking about the beast under your kitchen counter? You know, that mangled abyss that some call cupboards. Even though “cup” is in the name, these catch-alls end up holding broken items, beauty products, tools, appliances, power cords, decorations, and many other things!

Trying using stackable storage bins to bring some organization. You could even label and designate bins for certain items. This could work not only for the kitchen, but also the bathroom, bedroom, and hallway closets.

Think of your stackable storage like Legos for adults. Legos that will actually save you room instead of take up room! And they won’t stab the bottom of your unsuspecting foot like normal Legos. Double win!

 

Closet Savers For Mobile Home Storage

1. Rack em’ up!

Have you ever seen those hanging shoe racks? The ones that look like this:

Take a little imagination and you have a great storage tool!

In the picture above you can see that a shoe organizer can be used for those bulky glass jars which are hard to stack. A kitchen closet is not the only place to put this space-saving tip.

Use shoe organizers to store pre-planned baby outfits, pairs of socks, cleaning supplies, Barbie dolls, underwear, t-shirts, or even that bursting supply of power chords.

You are not limited to only doors for this organizing hack.

2. Drawers and more

Drawers are another tricky place where items tend to get lost and things go into disarray before you can say, “Open sesame.” Bring some organization to your drawer space by sorting items into small organizing trays (find them at your nearest dollar store.) To keep the trays from sliding around and becoming extra clutter, attach velcro to the bottom of the tray and the bottom of the drawer. This also allows you to remove the tray, find what you need, then replace them back in the drawer.

 

Miscellaneous Storage Ideas

1. Shutter the clutter up

Have you ever misplaced a bill? Or maybe an important piece of mail with time-sensitive information? Or maybe it’s the well-hidden set of keys that kept you from leaving the house on time. Let’s make sure that does not happen again.

With just a normal window shutter you can make a central office for all your random items. Simply hang the shutter upside down so that the slats in the shutter become pockets.

Add some hooks to one slat for an easily-accessible key hanger. With clothespins you can hang up pictures, postcards, or one of your child’s drawings. Use various pockets, or slats, for mail categories.

2. Pallet for your coffee

For those coffee enthusiasts out there, you can even use an old pallet for a cool display of your coffee mugs. Organize and decorate at the same time! Check out the pic below for an example:

Use some sandpaper to make the surface of the wood smooth. Then paint or finish it according to your taste, or to match the style of your mobile home. Finally, install some single hooks onto the pallet and you are ready to hang your coffee mugs and free up that precious cupboard space.

3. Tame the craft corner

With scissors, glue sticks, markers, pens, pencils, and all other crafting supplies, your craft table can get quite difficult to actually craft on. For a simple storage fix, simply take some empty tin cans and use them for storing your various supplies.

4. Take off your shoes

If you are one of those who like people to take their shoes off once they come into your home, you probably seen that this quickly leads to a messy pile of footwear. A fall waiting to happen, or maybe a doggy buffet.

With some cut pieces of PVC pipe, and an adhesive of your choice, you can make creative and fun shoe storage.

5. All those extra wrappings

With the passing of the Christmas season, families around the world are dealing with the same question; “What do I do with all these rolls of wrapping paper? Throw it in the corner? Throw it away!?”

Here is my first and favorite answer; hang it up and out of the way. This storage method not only has the benefit of being simple, but is also saves space for other things in your closet.

With only four anchors and screws and some galvanized wire, you can set up this little storage area in your closet and have the ability to access other items stored there.

Keep those leftover rolls of Christmas paper up and out of the way!

If putting screws in your closet wall is not your cup of tea for one reason or another, check this technique out:

All you will need for this is a garment bag, a hanger, and some space for a hanger in one of your closets. Just grab all your loose rolls that add clutter to your closet and place them neatly in a garment bag.

Store your paper in a way that is super accessible and makes the most of your closet space.

Store more than just wrapping paper with this creative, multipurpose storage option.

You will need a four legged bar stool, four rolling coasters, and a few canvas pouches.

• Screw the rolling coasters to the top of the stool.
• Then, flip the stool upside-down so that it is standing on the coasters.
• Finally, tie on your canvas pouches.

Now you have a really cool storage device for all your wrapping supplies. Store the wrapping paper in the middle of the four legs. Put your scissors, ribbon, bows, and tape in the various pouches.

With these clever storage ideas, you’re ready not just for Christmas, but any other time of the year you need to wrap gifts quickly and efficiently.
